Prawns Biryani (For 8 People)

Ingredients to prepare prawns

  • Prawns - 1 ½ pounds
  • Curd – 3 teaspoons
  • Chillie powder – 3 teaspoons
  • Turmeric powder – ¼ teaspoons
  • Curry powder – 1 ½ teaspoons
  • Garlic – 3 – 4
  • Cashew nuts – 10 – 12
  • Salt – 1 teaspoon
  • Big onions – 3
  • Red onion – 6 (chopped)
  • Curry leaves
  • Rampe – 2 inch piece
  • Cardamom – 10
  • Cinnamon – 2 inch piece
  • Small tomatoes – 3


Steps to prepare the prawns

1.     1. Put 3 teaspoons of curd, chillie powder, curry powder, salt, chopped garlic ginger cashew nuts and prawns to a pan and mix properly.
2.      Put 3 teaspoons of oil in to a pan and heat, when the oil is boiling add onion, curry leaves and other spices and fry. When onion becomes golden color, add the prawn mixture to this. Cut the tomatoes in to small pieces and add. Fry this for 4-5 minutes and keep aside.

Ingredients to prepare rice

  • Rice – 1 pound
  • Red onion (sliced) - 4 ounce
  • Curry leaves
  • Cloves – 5 seeds
  • Oil – 4 teaspoons
  • Cardamom – 5 seeds
  • Cinnamon – 2 inch piece
  • Rampe – 2 inch piece



Steps to prepare the rice

1. Put oil into a pan and boil, then add curry leaves, red onion, spices and fry until onion becomes golden color. Wash the rice properly, drain the water and add. Add water accordingly to the rice amount.

2. When the rice is half cooked, add the prawn mixture to the rice and close the pan with a lid. Seal the edge of the pan stopping air flow in and out of the pan. Keep this in the oven on 300 F temperature for 30-45 minutes.
